French national kidnapped by Houthis arrives in Marib

A French national arrested and tortured by Houthis in Sana'a for two years and a half has arrived in Marib after his release thanks to constant follow-up from his government.

Young man Marouk Abdul-Qader a worker for a French company in Yemen was arrested by the Houthi rebel militiamen in the rebels-held airport of Sana'a in January 16 and thrown up in jail where he started a journey of pain by various techniques of torture;electrocution, reverse hanging, stun guns and by ice and fire.

He was released at the end of a continuous follow-up and reportedly a ransom payment by French authorities to the rebels in Sana'aand he arrived in the government held-city of Marib east of the capital Sana'a on Thursday where senior state officials received him and ordered a medical checkup for him. Marks of torture are seen on his body.

He told government officials the militia forced him into disappearance without notifying anyone that he was in their custody. He said he "did not see the sun for six months" in his jail.

He said that the militia used to subject him to torture sessions and demand his confession before the camera that he was an intelligence agent. When he refuses to speak, the militiamen begin the torture session again.

He said that the militia took all the money and jewelry of his family. For a while he was kept in the intelligence jails where he and Yemeni prisoners and one American by the name John Hamen were subjected to torture.
John later died and the militia alleged that hehad committed suicide.
