The security committee of Marib governorate held on Tuesday a meeting ,presided over by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior (MOI) Major General Mohammed Salem bin Aboud in presence of Undersecretary of MOI for Security and Police Affairs Major General Dr. Ahmad Al-Moussai, to discuss the attack carried out by an armed gang at a security checkpoint south of Marib city.
According to a statement issued by the committee, the armed gang in five vehicles started firing at the security checkpoint at 7:00 a.m. ,killing 5 security personnel , including the commander of the checkpoint, and wounding 7 others .
“The security personnel at the checkpoint were compelled to respond to the attack, killing 12 gunmen and injuring seven others while three were arrested”: the statement added.
The statement pointed out that the security committee stressed enhancing the security measures at all security checkpoints ,including the security belt, in order to deter all those who may be tempted to undermine the security and stability
