The operators of Yemen's largest dam, in Marib, opened its main sluice gate on Sunday to saturate farms with water and replenish the depleting underground water reservoir.
Local government officials including deputy governor Abd-Rabbu Miftah attended the opening of the sluice gate. The director of the Agriculture Ministry branch office Sayf al-Walas said the released waters will set the stage for the increased output of cash crops and citrus fruits in the coming agriculture season which will start next October
