Marib Governor receives US Ambassador to Yemen

The governor of Marib province, Major General Sultan al-Arrada, received Thursday the US ambassador to our country Matthew Tueller. Both discussed the latest developments on the national scene, the requirements for peace in Yemen, and humanitarian and security situations in the province.

The governor, at the beginning of the meeting, welcomed the American ambassador who is visiting Marib for the second time as the province enjoys the security and stability. 

The governor stressed the solution to the conflict in Yemen lies in the implementation of the three locally and internationally recognized references ,represented by bringing an end to the coup, restoring the legitimate government and implementing NDC’s outcomes and UNSC resolution 2216.

“The Sweden peace consultations' outcomes are considered a real test to the Houthi militia to prove its desire to come to peace by implementing the agreements reached to in Sweden”,said the governor.

 “Yemenis hardly expect the militia to honor the recent agreements, they repeatedly earlier failed to so", he added.

Al-Arrada referred to the great security successes achieved by the local authority in the province thanks to the attention of the president of the Republic Marshal Aburabu M. Hadi and the cooperation between people and society with the authority and security forces.

The governor cited crimes and violations the militia has continued to carry out against the civilians including firing ballistic missiles and attacks on residential areas.

He pointed out that the Houthi militias’ acts are similar to those of extremist terrorist groups, primarily targeting innocent people, destroying public institutions , violating the rights and freedoms , torturing and killing their opponents.

Al-Arradah highly praised historic support by the Saudi-led Arab Coalition, backed by the UAE for the legitimate Yemeni government.

The governor also voiced appreciation for the American administration support for the legitimate political leadership, wishing the continuation of American support to serve the common interested of the two countries.

The US Ambassador expressed his admiration for the progress made in Marib, appreciating remarkable security and stability established in the province. He also reiterated American support for Yemeni government and making peace based on the three terms of reference.
