National Inquiry Committee inspects situation of arrested persons in Marib

Members of the National Committee to Investigate Human Right Violations Allegations on Friday carried out a field visit to inspect the situation and places of arrested persons in connection with the recent events in Al-Menin area in Marib province.

The members of the committee heard a detailed explanation from Marib police chief Brig. Gen. Abdul Malik al-Madani and the Director General of Criminal Research Colonel Hussein al-Halisi about a series of events leading up to the implementation of the security campaign, and the main procedures for the detention and investigation by the appeals and criminal courts.

The committee members stressed that the field visit is part of the committee's keenness to meet with the enforcement agencies and ensure legal guarantees applicable to the protection of human rights in relation to the legal process of detention.

Also, they visited the detainees and their whereabouts in the department of Criminal Investigation and listened to the statements from prisoners who have been detained in connection with the recent events.
