The Governor of Marib, Major General Sultan Al-Arada along with the Deputy Minister of Electricity, Engineer Abdullah Hajar, inaugurated on Thursday the operation of the first phase of gas power plant to supply electricity to the province with a capacity of 55 MW.
The Governor announced an expansion phase of the station with an additional capacity of 120 MW, coinciding with the celebration of 30th anniversary of the unification of Yemen on 22 May, 1990.
After the inauguration, Al-Aradah heard from the gas station's specialists and officials in the Electricity Department an explanation of the mechanism of reducing the current from 400 to 132 KV, and then to 11 KV.
The specialists pointed out that power gas plant will gradually begin supplying 40 MW, covering districts of al-Wadi ,Marib, Madghel, Raghwan and Majzer, while the remaining 15 MW would enter into service in the next few weeks.
Governor Al-Arada expressed his happiness at launching this vital and strategic project and overcoming the difficulties and challenges that faced the completion process.
He directed the Electricity Department in Marib to quickly complete the linking of the southern districts with the gas-powered plant.
