World Days on Human and Development Held in Marib

While Marib is attracting more global media attention to the changes that has taken place over the last three years, the governorate has participated in the international events in the world days with programs and activities whose first motto was human.

Journalist Raji Ammar says that Marib represents a living example of Yemeni human civilization, that he can live with the world and live his joys and pain as he is an integral part of this world of which he affects and influenced by, seeking to make this world better.

"Marib is no longer just a city absorbing all different Yemeni parties, but it has become a city sharing its dream with the world in a better tomorrow, without consideration of the person or his/her belief, color or gender. That is what made it drawing global media attention”.

 

During the past year, Marib has celebrated seven international events with many activities ranging from mass events, humanitarian and human rights projects, awareness programs, training courses, and honoring gifted and talented people.

  

Marib distributed 100,000 books on the World Book Day and launched a training program for talented young people in the field of media in the World Press Day, and honored women, children, workers and people with special needs in their own days.

 

According to Ali al-Ghulisi, the secretary journalist of Marib governor, Marib's celebration of World Days reflects a cultural extension and a historical legacy, which found itself at the heart of the world sharing with them various events and sharing their interest.

"Marib sees the UN World days as important events to promote awareness and serve the humanitarian, social and economic and cultural goals of these days’’,he added .

  

Marib has celebrated seven international events during the past year 2017:

On April 23, the branch of the General Authority for the Book in Marib Governorate launched a project to distribute 100,000 books for 100 libraries in the liberated governorates in cooperation with the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation on the occasion of World Book Day.

  

On May 1, Marib honored skilled workers in the public, private sectors.

On May 3, the Information Office of the Governorate announced the launch of a training program titled "Future Journalists" for amateur and media beginners in conjunction with World Press Freedom Day.

  

On 20 November, the Governor of Marib Province Sultan Al-Arrada organized activities on the International Children's Day. A festival, art and photo exhibition were also arranged to raise awareness of children's right to live in dignity.

  

On 3 December, Amal Association for the Care of the Disabled in Marib commemorated the World Day for People with Special Needs, honoring the missing body parts of the lower limbs due to landmines and accidents.

   

On December 10, the governorate celebrated the International Human Rights Day in the presence of a number of Yemeni state officials headed by Abdulaziz Jubari, Deputy Prime Minister, and number of military and local officers.
