Marib has evolved beyond a mere provincial capital to become a pivotal center of influence across Yemen's political, military, economic, and cultural spheres, according to Ali Al-Ghulaisi, the press secretary for Presidential Leadership Council member and Marib's governor, Major General Sultan Al-Aradah. In a series of recent posts on X, Al-Ghulaisi underscored the governorate's growing significance, noting that even minor events within its borders are now scrutinized through a national lens.
This heightened attention, he explained, reflects Marib's exceptional position in the collective consciousness of the Yemeni people. The press secretary highlighted that Marib's operational state institutions adhere to official laws, a point corroborated by numerous visits from government agencies and international delegations. He affirmed that constructive criticism is not only accepted but embraced as a vital tool for continuous improvement and development. Al-Ghulaisi was quick to clarify that Marib does not claim perfection or seek comparisons with other regions. Instead, he said, the governorate is charting its own course, driven by a clear national vision and the unyielding determination of its residents to build and rebuild amid ongoing challenges. The Marib leadership, Al-Ghulaisi added, actively engages with political groups and factions that support the legitimate government and oppose the Houthi militias. These groups are viewed as crucial partners in the fight for liberation and reconstruction, foundational pillars in the effort to restore state institutions and end the insurgency.
