Major General Sultan Al-Aradah, vice president of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), met today with advisors from the Office of the UN Special Envoy for Yemen. The advisors included military advisor Anthony Hayward, political advisor Roxaneh Bazergan, and security advisor Snezhana Kaufman. During the meeting, discussions focused on the latest national developments and the ongoing UN efforts to support the peace process. Major General Al-Aradah affirmed the commitment of the Presidential Leadership Council and the government to support the United Nations' efforts on all fronts to help end the suffering of the Yemeni people. He highlighted the political leadership's adherence to the three core references for a just and sustainable peace: the Gulf Initiative and its implementation mechanism, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference, and the relevant UN Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2216. Al-Aradah also stressed the importance of addressing humanitarian and economic issues alongside political, military, and security matters. He noted that the Yemeni people are looking for practical measures that can alleviate their daily hardships, which have been exacerbated by the wars and continuous violations of the Houthi terrorist militias against citizens. In turn, the UN Special Envoy’s advisors expressed their appreciation for the cooperation with the Presidential Leadership Council and the government. They confirmed that their visit was aimed at listening to official perspectives on the political, military, and security tracks to enhance the Special Envoy’s efforts to bridge viewpoints and contribute to stability in Yemen.
