Major General Sultan Al-Aradah, vice president of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), held a video conference with the UK Ambassador to Yemen, Abda Sharif, and the French Ambassador, Catherine Corm-Kammoun, to discuss the latest developments on the national scene. The meeting focused on current field developments, the challenges facing Yemen on multiple fronts, and the serious implications of the ongoing situation for domestic, regional, and international stability. Al-Aradah warned that unilateral actions outside the national consensus risk enabling the Iranian-backed Houthi militia to exploit the situation, consolidate influence, and undermine national and UN-led efforts. He called for increased international support for the political leadership, led by President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, chairman of the PLC, and the government, emphasizing that such support is essential to safeguard social peace, preserve national unity, and restore state institutions. He further highlighted that the threat posed by the Houthis extends beyond Yemen, impacting global economic and commercial interests, and is part of a broader agenda serving the Iranian regime and deepening regional instability. Al-Aradah urged the international community to adopt a firmer and more effective stance in support of the Yemeni people and the restoration of their state. Al-Aradah reiterated that any political process, domestic or international, must fully adhere to three foundational frameworks; the Gulf Initiative and its implementation mechanism, the outcomes of the Comprehensive National Dialogue Conference and Relevant UN Security Council resolutions, including Resolution 2216. He stressed that these references are crucial to achieving a just and sustainable solution that preserves Yemen’s stability and sovereignty. Ambassadors Sharif and Corm-Kammoun reaffirmed their countries’ continued support for the PLC and the government, emphasizing their commitment to efforts aimed at ensuring security, stability, and the fulfillment of the aspirations of the Yemeni people.
