PLC Vice President and Marib Governor Maj. Gen. Sultan Al-Aradah received German Ambassador to Yemen Thomas Schneider and his accompanying delegation in Marib on Monday to discuss political, humanitarian, and development developments in Yemen, as well as avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation. The meeting, attended by Deputy Head of Mission Sophia Hertzberg, focused on the humanitarian and economic challenges facing Yemen, the situation in Marib, and efforts to support stability, recovery, and development. Al-Aradah praised Germany’s longstanding support for Yemen and its backing of UN-led ef forts, describing Yemeni-German relations as a model of constructive partnership. He called for increased international assistance to help the Yemeni government address mounting humanitarian needs and sustain essential services amid declining donor funding. Discussions also addressed the pressures facing Marib as a major host of internally displaced persons, with Al-Aradah highlighting local efforts to maintain security, improve public services, and advance infrastructure projects despite limited resources. For his part, Ambassador Schneider commended the level of stability, development activity, and urban growth in Marib despite ongoing challenges. He praised local authorities for their role in accommodating displaced populations and reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to supporting Yemen through humanitarian and development programs aimed at promoting stability, recovery, and reconstruction .
