Safer CEO, German Ambassador Discuss Energy Sector Challenges and Cooperation Opportunities

Safer Exploration and Production Operations Company CEO Eng. Salem Al-Kaiti met with German Ambassador to Yemen Thomas Schneider to discuss challenges facing Yemen’s energy sector and opportunities for expanding bilateral cooperation. The meeting, attended by Deputy Head of Mission Sophia Hertzberg, Yemen Gas Company Director Eng. Mohsen Bin Wahit, and Safer Deputy CEO Ghaleb Maeeli, reviewed the company’s role in sustaining oil and gas operations amid Yemen’s ongoing crisis. Al-Kaiti highlighted the impact of the suspension of oil and liquefied natural gas exports, noting its adverse effects on company operations, maintenance programs, infrastructure preservation, and future expansion plans. He stressed that the oil and gas sector remains a key pillar of Yemen’s economy and an important source of public revenue. Discussions also focused on potential cooperation in renewable energy, technical expertise exchange, capacity building, and the adoption of modern technologies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and support sustainable energy development in Yemen. For his part, Ambassador Schneider expressed interest in the challenges facing Yemen’s oil and gas sector and reaffirmed Germany’s support for development initiatives and cooperation in areas of mutual interest. He praised Safer’s contribution to the Yemeni economy and emphasized the importance of continued dialogue and exploring new avenues for partnership.
