Miftah, German Ambassador Visit IDP Camps and Development Projects

Undersecretary of Marib Governorate Dr. Abdrabuh Miftah and German Ambassador to Yemen Thomas Schneider toured displacement camps and development projects in Marib as part of the ambassador’s official visit to the governorate. The delegation visited Al-Jufainah and Al-Suwaidah IDP camps, where they reviewed humanitarian conditions and received briefings on the challenges facing displaced communities, particularly in shelter, education, healthcare, water, and livelihoods. They also visited an economic empowerment project supporting displaced families, safe spaces serving African migrants, and Al-Hadba water barriers and dam diversion project in Marib Al-Wadi District, which aims to protect farmland and improve water management. Separately, Ambassador Schneider met with the leadership of the University of Saba Region to discuss academic development projects and opportunities for cooperation in higher education and capacity building. Miftah welcomed the visit, highlighting its importance in strengthening humanitarian and development cooperation and praising Germany’s continued support for Marib.
