Major General Sultan Al-Aradah, Vice President of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), met today with Jonathan Peccia, the acting U.S. Ambassador to Yemen, to address the latest political, economic, and humanitarian developments in the war-torn nation.
Discussions centered on bolstering bilateral cooperation and tackling urgent humanitarian and economic challenges. Al-Aradah emphasized that genuine peace requires solutions based on agreed-upon frameworks to end the crisis, mitigate its fallout, and restore state institutions.
He urged the international community to take a firm stance against the "intransigence of the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist militia," citing their disregard for peace initiatives and ongoing hostile actions that undermine UN efforts and prolong the conflict.
Al-Aradah also highlighted the severe economic crisis, exacerbated by Houthi attacks on oil facilities that have halted exports and crippled state revenues. He called on the U.S. and international partners to support the Yemeni government's financial and service institutions to alleviate the humanitarian impact.
Ambassador Peccia reiterated U.S. support for the PLC and its commitment to restoring security and stability, underscoring the international consensus on ending humanitarian suffering in Yemen.
