Vice President of the Presidential Leadership Council, Major General Sultan Al-Aradah, met with the French Ambassador to Yemen, Catherine Corm-Kammoun, to discuss the latest developments in Yemen, including the political, economic, and humanitarian situation. The meeting also explored avenues to strengthen bilateral relations between Yemen and France.
During the meeting, attended by French Military Attaché Genid Goudi, Vice President Al-Aradah emphasized the importance of enhancing bilateral cooperation across various sectors. He expressed gratitude for France's continued support to Yemen, including its political, economic, humanitarian, and development assistance.
VP Al-Aradah raised serious concerns regarding the escalating aggression of the Houthi militia, particularly their attacks on maritime navigation in the Red Sea and Arabian Sea. He highlighted the grave implications of these actions for international maritime security and the global economy. He called upon the international community to take decisive action to deter the Houthi militia, including measures to cut off their funding sources and end regional support for their aggression.
VP Al-Aradah urged the French government and international partners to hold accountable those obstructing the peace process. He reiterated the need for a comprehensive and sustainable peace solution that adheres to the established framework, including the Gulf Cooperation Council Initiative and its implementation mechanism, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference, and UN Security Council Resolution 2216.
Al-Aradah reaffirmed the Presidential Leadership Council's commitment to achieving a just and lasting peace that addresses the root causes of the conflict and alleviates the suffering of the Yemeni people.
Ambassador Corm-Kammoun reaffirmed France's commitment to supporting the Yemeni government and its efforts to achieve a peaceful resolution to the conflict. The Ambassador reiterated France's opposition to any actions that hinder the peace process and emphasized her country's support for a comprehensive and peaceful settlement in Yemen.
