Vice President of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council, Major General Sultan al-Aradah, met on Monday with Ambassador Shao Zheng, the Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Yemen, to discuss avenues for strengthening and developing the bilateral relationship between the two nations.
During the meeting, al-Aradah briefed Ambassador Zheng on the latest developments in Yemen. He highlighted the ongoing escalation by the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist militia and their increasing violations against civilians, emphasizing the threat this poses to peace efforts and the worsening humanitarian crisis resulting from their conflict and coup against the legitimate government and national consensus.
Al-Aradah conveyed the hope of the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government to broaden their partnership with China in the future, encompassing various critical sectors to serve the mutual interests of both countries.
He also commended the Chinese government's supportive decisions in the commercial sector, particularly the exemption of Yemeni exports from customs duties and the provision of opportunities for participation in international exhibitions, noting their positive impact on bolstering economic ties.
Ambassador Shao Zheng reiterated China's commitment to advancing the peace process in Yemen. He affirmed China's continued support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the government, as well as its dedication to providing humanitarian and economic assistance to Yemen.
