Marib's urban landscape is set for a significant transformation as the governorate's Cleaning and Improvement Fund today inaugurated the third phase of its ambitious tree-planting project. The initiative aims to vastly expand green spaces and enhance the city's aesthetic appeal, moving closer to its goal of greening all of Marib's streets.
The launch event was attended by Dr. Ali Al-Jabal, Director of the Governorate's Technical Office, and Abed Rabbo Hulais, Assistant Director-General of the Marib Governor's Office, underscoring the local leadership's commitment to the project. Mohammed Attiyah, Director of the Cleaning and Improvement Fund, announced that this latest phase will see the planting of roughly 60,000 diverse ornamental trees. Additionally, 40,000 square meters of new green spaces will be established across various streets and neighborhoods throughout the city.
Attiyah highlighted that this phase builds on the success of the two preceding stages, forming a crucial part of a comprehensive plan backed by local authorities. The ultimate objective is to fully afforest all main and subsidiary roads in Marib, creating a greener, more vibrant urban environment. The expansive plan extends beyond city streets, encompassing the greening of government offices, institutions, and the area surrounding Marib Airport, including its access road. This multi-faceted effort seeks to substantially increase green areas, public parks, and recreational spaces across Marib, boosting vegetation cover and presenting the city in a more modern and fitting light.
