Major General Sultan Al-Aradah, vice president of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), held discussions today with Jonathan Peccia, Chargé d'Affaires of the United States Embassy to Yemen, focusing on the latest national and regional developments. The meeting reviewed bilateral relations between Yemen and the United States and explored avenues for developing cooperation across political, security, economic, and humanitarian fields. Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening joint cooperation and partnership, particularly in the critical areas of counter-terrorism and anti-smuggling efforts, to serve shared interests and bolster stability and development in Yemen and the wider region. During the discussion, Al-Aradah praised the strong historical ties between the two friendly nations. He affirmed the PLC’s commitment to increasing coordination with the US Administration, especially on priority files, foremost among them supporting the government’s efforts to achieve economic recovery and enhance security stability. Al-Aradah valued the supportive stances of the United States toward the PLC and the Yemeni government in implementing comprehensive reforms across various economic, administrative, security, and service sectors. He noted that these reforms aim to boost the efficiency of state institutions, establish principles of transparency and accountability, and improve the level of public services provided to citizens. The PLC member underscored the necessity of increasing international support for Yemen during the current phase. This support, he stressed, is vital for confronting the challenges posed by the Houthi militia's coup, rebuilding state institutions, advancing comprehensive reforms, and supporting peace efforts. He also called for continued American backing for development and reconstruction programs in the liberated areas. For his part, Chargé d'Affaires Jonathan Peccia reiterated his country’s commitment to sustaining support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government in their path toward comprehensive reforms and economic stabilization. He commended the efforts of the PLC and the government in activating state institutions and improving economic and service conditions. Peccia also renewed the United States' commitment to enhancing its partnership with Yemen in combating terrorism and securing international navigation, affirming joint work toward achieving security and development in the region.
