Safer CEO, EU Delegation Discuss Cooperation on Yemen’s Energy Sector

Safer Exploration and Production Operations Company CEO Eng. Salem Kuaiti met today with EU Ambassador to Yemen Patrick Simonnet and Dutch Ambassador Jeannette Seppen to discuss expanding cooperation in support of Yemen’s oil and gas sector, institutional reforms, and economic recovery.

During the meeting, attended by Safer Deputy CEO Ghaleb Maeeli, Kuaiti outlined the company’s efforts to modernize oil and gas infrastructure, improve operational efficiency, and sustain production despite the suspension of oil exports following Houthi attacks on export facilities.

He stressed the importance of drawing on European expertise in technology transfer, digital transformation, governance, and workforce development to help modernize the energy sector and restore its role in supporting Yemen’s economy.

The two sides also explored opportunities for technical and investment cooperation in both conventional and renewable energy, including knowledge exchange and capacity building.

Simonnet and Seppen reaffirmed the European Union’s commitment to supporting Yemen’s institutional reform agenda and the development of the energy sector through expanded technical and investment cooperation.
