Women Peacemakers Initiative of Marib Girls Foundation, with the participation of representatives of civil society organizations in the governorate, organized Thursday an awareness-raising meeting on the dangers of child recruitment.
Marib Deputy governor of Marib Abdullah al-Bakari stressed ,during the meeting attended by several human rights activists, that the recruitment of children is a war crime has been committed by Houthi militia against the society since the start of the war.
He added that Houthi rebels kidnap children from all areas under their control, forcing them to participate in their battles that would put their lives at risk in violation of international laws which prohibit the child recruitment.
Meanwhile ,Nasarah Nasar , a team member of the Initiative , reviewed the activities and events that have been implemented during the first year of the Initiative ,as well as the results of the meetings with the leadership of Defense Ministry ,the local authority of Marib and the security officials in the province.
She mentioned the cooperation and effective response from local ,military and security institutions in the province.
