Yemeni security forces have busted a Houthi terrorist cell in Marib thwarting massive terror operations that were planned in the country’s eastern province, a source told Saba on Wednesday.
The security source said that the cell was assigned by Sana’a-based Houthi militia to “carry out terrorist and subversive operations in different parts of Marib as part of a plot to destabilize peaceful living of the population” who are mostly escapees from the militia.
The source said “a quality security operation was conducted after monitoring and tracking the cell members on a constant basis for days.” They were arrested “while planting improvised explosive devices” in a main highway outside the provincial capital.
The Iranian-backed theocratic militia have been waging a non-stopping war against the government-held city since the beginning of 2020. The war intensified as of February 6 this year.
