The Governor of Marib, Sultan Al-Arada, has announced on Friday the allocation of Yer 100 million, from the governoarat's share of oil and gas revenues and its annual budget, for each district's authority to the 2014 budget, to address damages of torrential rains and flooding of the Marib Dam.
During presiding over a meeting with the Emergency Committee, deputies and districts directors, the governor highlighted that the local authorities of the districts need to move quickly to address the needs of people and flood damages, in accordance with the most important and urgent priorities, foremost of which is providing assistance to the affected families and saving the communities besieged by torrents and floods, rebuilding damaged roads, setting up necessary water barriers, and strengthening security and protection for the IDPs and host communities in the all districts.
He also stressed the urgent need to protect the international Marib-Hadramout Highway and the road linking Marib with al-Baydha and Shabwah governoates from floods, conducting the necessary work to protect bridges from collapse due to the pressure of the Marib's dam overflow, and torrential rains.
