Marib governor says Houthis' shelling of civilian objects sign of moral bankruptcy

The governor of Marib, Major General Sultan Al-Arada, said the Houthi militia resort to shelling civilian objects, including places of worship, women, children, and elderly people in the governorate, the last of which was the targeting of the security camp's mosque in the city of Marib on Friday, legally classified as one of the civilian objects, is a sign of moral bankruptcy and failure to capture the governorate.

During his inspection visit to the mosque struck by a Houthi ballistic missile, the governor said this attack is not an errant strike and it is the fourth one on the places of worship in the governorate.

''This is a security forces camp that ensures the security of all Yemeni citizens inside the governorate, including the IDPs and inhabitants, and not involved in the fighting," he said.

"Houthis should realize that capturing Marib is an unattainable goal. It is impossible to hand it over to militia", Al-Arada stated.

He expressed his regret for the killings of young people and those who have been deceived and forced by the Houthi militia to target safe and remote areas and attack government forces.
